Simplify and Streamline Your Plein Air Painting Experience

6-Week Oil Painting Workshop with Matt DeProspero, in Lambertville, NJ

Workshop Location:

First Week – MADE Gallery 45 Church Street.  Weeks 2 thru 6 – Various locations in Lambertville, TBD

Limited to 10 participants, open to all levels of experience and mediums. Instructor will demonstrate in oil paint

Join local artist Matt DeProspero for this six-week plein air workshop in downtown Lambertville. Painting outdoors poses some unique challenges to an artist. That’s why it’s so important to make it as easy on ourselves as possible by having a system that incorporates only the essential supplies and equipment, keeping us adaptable to various situations and minimizing setup time while also maximizing painting time. Matt will show you the methods and materials he uses to simplify the outdoor painting process, and help you to work more efficiently and consistently, building on your successes from one painting to the next

On the first day of the workshop, the instructor will demonstrate a plein air study on-site, from start to finish, as he discusses every aspect of the process, from site selection, to composition, various color palettes, and all the materials and tools he employs. Each week we’ll select a new painting location in Lambertville where students can then choose their own vantage point within a designated area. Locations will include river and canal views, as well as street scenes and open vistas. Along the way, Matt will provide individual feedback and guidance to each artist, helping them complete their plein air studies and putting into practice what they have learned.

After registration, each student will receive a welcome letter with all pertinent details of the workshop, including a materials list.
