About The Event
Painting Workshop: The Art of Color
Welcome to our interactive painting workshop, The Art of Color. This course is designed for aspiring and experienced artists alike who wish to deepen their understanding and mastery of color in their artwork. Over the course of two 3-hour sessions, participants will explore the theory and practical application of color, learning to create vibrant and harmonious works of art.
Objectives
The primary objectives of this workshop are to:
· Enhance participants' knowledge of color theory, including the color wheel, color harmony, and the psychological effects of color.
· Develop skills in mixing and blending colors to achieve desired hues and tones.
· Experiment with various limited color palettes to effectively utilize color in compositions.
· Apply the lessons learned to create an original oil painting with guidance from the instructor
Content
Introduction to Color Theory
Participants will start with the basics of color theory, learning about primary, secondary, and tertiary colors. The sessions will cover color relationships, such as complementary, analogous, and triadic schemes, and how they can be utilized to create visual harmony.
Color Mixing and Blending
This section will focus on practical exercises in mixing colors. Working within a limited palette of colors, participants will learn techniques to achieve a wide range of hues, shades, and tints, and understand the impact of different color combinations.
Practical Application of Color Theory
The workshop will culminate in the creation of individual artworks that incorporate participants' newly learned ideas and techniques. Instructor will provide personalized feedback and guidance, helping each participant to refine their techniques and achieve their artistic goals.
Materials
Participants are encouraged to bring their preferred painting supplies, including:
· Oil or acrylic paints
· Brushes of various sizes and shapes
· Small palette knife and disposable palette for mixing colors
· Canvas or paper suitable for their chosen medium
· Tablet, smartphone or printed photo reference
